In case you have been under a pile of newspapers (you still read those? what are you, from 2002?) or spend time on other things, like taking care of your children or having a job, then you might have missed the “story” of the moment.
Last week it was Susan Boyle (the British lady with the voice and the eyebrows) who was the internet sensation, this week it’s Miss California and Perez Hilton. Enjoy:
Perez later called Miss California a “dumb bitch” on his blog in his typically classy fashion. He is milking this for all it’s worth. He called her answer the “worst ever in Miss USA history” and said he was “THE Youtube moment of the show.” There’s not much more to expect from such a human spectacle that is Perez Hilton–and yes, I am being kind.
All in all, Miss California sounded a bit out of touch. But she responded in a respectful, tempered way, and has handled herself ten times better than Perez after this flap. I whole-heartedly disagree with her response, but may I remind Perez that she was trying to win MISS USA. Not the presidency, not a ballot measure, not even a city council seat, but MISS USA, the classier version of the Miss Tropicana contest. Dude.
